Hey Rhana, is this in Oz? The Dutch do tulips like this but it looks a bit hilly to be Holland. What an amazing job of shooting this beautifully colorful scene—and that sky is totally awesome. This is such a feast!

Hey billyboy! Speaking of people whose work I admire…. ;) Yes this is in Oz. Just up the road from where I live on the north west coast of Tasmania is an amazing place called Table Cape. It is believed to be a volcanic “plug” and the soil is this fantastic deep rich red… It comes fully alive in Tulip season.

Adam yes… yes I do… there is something almost otherwordly about the light in storm breaks. It seems to lend a clarity to eveything forcing you to see things as you wouldnt in normal light.

This is absolutely magnificent Rhana – if there is one place on earth I’d trade for where I live now it would be Tassie – photographer’s nirvana. But this image is one of the very best I’ve seen from Tassie (and boy is that saying something I can tell you). The colours are nothing short of glorious but it is that sky that pushes this image into another realm – speechless (very, very rare event!!).

This has to be Table Cape in Tasmania – towering above where my “Home” photo was taken on the beach. This one really made me homesick. There’s a really funny memory I have about Table Cape involving a boyfriend (now Husband of 26 years), a Holden Ute and a Policeman – but maybe that’s better left for another time.

Just to clarify… yes this IS a real photo. Yes they ARE tulips! I spent almost three hours freezing my butt off waiting around for sun in between storm cells. The skyline and colour saturations have only been marginally enhanced.

Oh, definitely one of the best shots of tulip fields. The placement of the horizon at the centre vertically breaks all the rules but works beautifully. The sky is super, the clouds fluffy but dramatic, the tulip rows colourful and with great contrast. Spectacular work Rhana.

I just came back to this glorious image today and I don’t know if anyone else in this library of comments has mentioned it but as soon as I looked at the sky again I saw a unicorn immediately – can you see the profile of its head and horn in the centre of the sky and if you follow these back you can clearly see its neck and then its body lying down with its legs folded beneath it – it just jumps out at me now – magic or what!!
