Keystone
Dip Falls Tasmania.
Over time the constant flow of water over this hill has created an intricate network of individual stones which all huddle together as one.
It would seem that this fallen tree has discovered the keystone – the one which holds all the others together under the onslaught of rushing water – and rises up to lend its love, strength and protection to this precious individual.
A flight of fancy on my part? Perhaps… but it is a beautiful thought, and what I will always see when I look at this image.

Totally gorgeous – maybe you or Jeff ought to start a waterfall group.
This is just FANTASTIC

Hey thanks Stuart! Before my trek to Dip Falls – which left me with tender thighs and bruises on my butt – I had absolutely zero experience with “silky water” shots. I’m learning, but still a far cry from really knowing what I am doing. I’m chalking this one up to luck and a little help ;)
I’ll leave the whole “group starting” to people who dont rely on luck but actually know what they are doing =))
krafty

Thanks everyone! Alan and Krafty… I really needed to post my thoughts with this image. Alone as I was down there taking this picture I had nothing else to do but snap away and think my silent thoughts.

Hey nannajul! This was my first attempt. I recently bought a digital SLR and a tripod which has enabled me to use different shutter speeds and apertures to get this effect.

Rhana Griffin
Thanks again everyone… I am so pleased with the way this one turned out. I think I am going to have to find a place to hang it at home….

The rocks are actually hexagonal basalt coloumns, formed from the cooling of this volcanic rock. Another similar rock formation is found at The Organ Pipes NP, Vic.
You captured the highlight tones in the water really well. Ideal soft light. It beats my shot of it taken with 6×6cm film and a Hasselblad.
Rhana Griffin
Thanks for the info Ern! This shot was taken on my Sami girl. A Samsung GX10.
Mark German
