Memory Lane

The memory of you emerges from the night around me
And try as I might it won’t leave me be
Each moment is stretched before my unwilling eyes
AS I’m forced to watch and remember your lies
There was a time when I believed you in full
But that was before you fed me that bull

What made you think that I would trust you again so soon after
You hand did nothing to hide your laughter
Yet you still had the nerve to ask about my prom
The fact that the thought even passed through that bomb
You call a brain just says how much you don’t know
‘Bout girls and break ups altogether, so

I wish that your memory would stop popping up everywhere
I wish I could believe that I don’t care
But every time I turn around there you are
Scorching my eyes with repressed feelings, I stare
In disbelief as you parade around me
Why don’t you take your lies and leave me be!
