My first name is Rebecca, and although it is pretty name, I personally am not a fan of it. Mainly because I found out what it means in Hebrew (which is where the name Rebecca comes from, it is a form of Rivka); it means tied or bound, i.e. in marriage. As you can see it is not exactly flattering. I was told that the reason that I was given the name Rebecca, other then the fact that I had been born a girl (it would have been Michael other wise) was because my father was going through a some what biblical era at the time. This might explain my somewhat detached feelings to words it… However it is still a ‘good’ name and therefore I will settle for just shortening it to Becca and move on with my life. If it could be represented by a flower I would say it would have to be the rose, preferably orange, at least in regards to the name as it sits with me. The rose usually symbolizes love, joy, beauty, grace, passion, bravery (etcetera, etcetera, etcetera…) and if you take into account the meaning of my name then it is easy to see why I chose the rose! I chose the colour orange, not only because it is my favourite colour, but also because it symbolizes encouragement, and I would like to hope that I am a very encouraging person.
I think that if my name were an ice-cream it would be Cookie Dough, usually sweet with an even mixture of soft and chewy, and rock solid chunks. Coincidently if it were a fabric it would be sued, soft outer texture but a firm grounding or backing. But contrary to its origin, as a food I would have to say that it is more American, more specifically Apple Crumble. A some what firm/grounded outer layer, with a warm and inviting core! And that my friends is my name in a nut shell!
