Love and Piracy Chapter Two

They arrived on the Bridge a few minutes later just in time to hear the transmission as they slipped out of ‘HELL Stream’.

“Attention Captain and crew of the Crusader, the Grand Duke Hubert Washburn wishes to board your vessel, will you comply?” Then there was static…

“Computer transmit this message. We, the Captain and crew of the Crusader, are more then happy to oblige the Grand Duke and have him grace us with his presence.” Laina said smiling.

“Message transmitted.” The computer answered.

“Mr. Ash would you be so kind as to welcome our royal visitor aboard, without robbing him blind if you please.”

“Aye Captain, it’ll be difficult but I’ll try.” A large yellow man with a strange jagged scar on his jaw line answered with a smirk and then left the Bridge.

“Wonderful.” Liana made her way over and sat down in her Captain’s chair, and just as she sat down everything in the room started to float. “Computer patch me into engineering please.” She asked wearily.

“Yes Captain.” There was a series of beeping noises then a male voice filled the Bridge, and a man’s face filled the large view screen that doubled as a window.

“Engineering.” Said the man, who looked almost scared.

“Mr. Karas how many times have I asked you not to play with the gravity controls?” Laina asked calmly.

“Wasn’t me Capt’n, it was Bruser.” Mr. Karas squeaked timidly.

“Well could you turn the gravity back on and then let me talk to Bruser?”

“Yes Ma’am.” He left the view of the screen for a moment and the gravity came back on, throwing almost everybody to the floor. “How can I help you Captain Lex?” Mr. Karas came back on screen, except he didn’t look the least bit afraid anymore; in fact he looked slightly bored.

“You could help me by stop playing with the gravity controls Bruser. I would hate to have to fire you into space because you refuse listen.” Laina told him, still not completely used to the split personality, but he was the best damned engineer in the business so you really couldn’t blame him for being a little strange.

“Sorry Captain, I could not help my self. I will not let it happen again.”

“See that it you don’t. Bridge out.” She hit the intercom button on the arm of her chair now that she could reach it.

“Captain, the Grand Duke is waiting in Conference Room A.”

“Thank you Mr. Ash that will be all. Wes I leave you in charge, but don’t let it go to your head.” Laina said smiling. “Keep us here for now.” She got back up and walked over to another elevator, this one would take her down two levels directly into Conference Room A.

Hubert was six foot five and was a darker shade of every thing compared to his sister, which is normal between the Zeon Beta Omega sexes. “Lainy I have huge news!”

“Hue!” She ran over and hugged her big brother, he was twenty-four Earth years old incase you’re wondering. “What news could be so important that you have to hail my ship in HELL Stream?”

“I’m getting married, Lainy, to Lady Augusta.”

“Lady Augusta? I thought you hated Lady Augusta.”

“I never hated her Lainy; I just never appreciated her… inner beauty before.” He replied. “She’s really not that bad once you get to know her.”

“I see well congratulations I guess. Do Mom and Dad know you’re here?”

“Of course not. Come on Lainy I’m not that stupid. They think I’m inspecting the freighter ships in Sector Nine. How have you been since we last spoke?”

“I’ve been better, but I’m not complaining. Is there still a bounty on my head?” Laina asked as she led him over to the conference table and they sat down in the swivel chairs.

“Which one?” He said laughing.

“Ouch. They never give up do they? It’s not bad enough that they disowned me and disinherited me, but did they really have to put a price on my imprisonment? Is it really to much to ask just to be left alone? The crew still doesn’t know…”

“I didn’t figure you would tell them and Westen knows when to keep his mouth shut. Smart man… good looking too.” Hue said suggestively.

“Hue stop. We’ve been over this a thousand times.” She said groaning.

“Alright I’m just saying…”

“Well don’t. I don’t need to get married unlike some people. My inheritance isn’t on the line any more, so drop it. I mean it Hue!”

“Fine calm down. But I don’t care what our parents think; even if you have to sneak in I want you at the wedding. Lady Celia said she’d be coming.”

“Well that’s one way of getting in isn’t it…?” She thought for a moment, “Keep me posted and I will try to make it. Just don’t leave any valuables lying around; you know how the crew gets about shinny objects.” Laina said with an evil grin.

“I’ll take what I can get, but I’ve got to go Lainy. They’ll be wondering where I am soon. Goodbye little sister, take care of yourself.” They hugged once more and he left the room.

Back on the Bridge, Laina gave the order to jump back into HELL Stream as soon as her brother was out of the ships Stream pull. “Take us to planet Marshez Mr. Canz, I think you lot have earned another shore leave, what say you?”

“Aye Capt’n, and just how long of a shore leave?” Mr. Canz asked hopefully.

“About a week I think, but no more and I mean it this time.” She said stifling another yawn. “Now I’m going down to the C-Deck, call me if there’s a problem. Wes you’re coming with me.”

“Aye Captain.” He followed her back off the Bridge and into yet another elevator, once inside he asked, “So what did Hubert want?”

“He’s finally getting married to Lady Augusta. It’s about time too; this whole pretending to despise her existence thing was really getting old.”

“Alright then, but we haven’t been to Marshez since you took over. Why now?”

“Hue wants me to be at the wedding and my friend Celia is already going. I can sneak in as one of her servants and no one will be the wiser. I hope; they still have a bounty on my head, my own parents. Go figure.”

“Ah now I get it. How many of us are going with you?”

“As many as Celia can get away with. I’ve already warned Hue.”
