Lense Recommendations PLEAASSEEE?
I have just purchased a Nikon D700 and will also be purchasing some new lenses soon to make the most of the full frame sensor…............would love a few tips or recommendations as to what others use or think are good! I am primarily a wedding and portrait photographer too if that helps!

50mm f1.4 – It’s a must have in any kit.
John Robb
I’d say a 24-70 f/2.8 and a 70-200 f/2.8 – primes are good but, in the cut and thrust of weddings, zooms tend to rule.

I agree with John Robb!!!

Thanks they are the two I was thinking of John! The prome is very tempting though especially with the D700 Im a big fan of being able to use the camera in low light hand held!

put the house up for security and eat tin beans for 3 months and get the lot!!
At least have one lens that can open to an f stop of 1.8…. you’ll love it in a church during the winter!

Awesome new purchase! I think I will have to go with the D300 instead, but have thought about that D700 several times. Definitely look for a lens that can do 95% of your work.

For weddings and portraits… you cannot ignore both the 24-70 and 70-200. You need both. Also of good use is the 50 and 85mm primes.
If you need an ultra wide for scenic wedding photos, then the 14-24 is the best ultra wide ever made.

Happy to let you play with all 5 lenses if you’d like :)
