Good night Dungeness by Beatrice Cloake

Good night Dungeness by

On the 29th December 2011, the sky in front of my studio became magical.
It was 4 pm, with no time to take an easel etc…(the colours change within a couple of minutes) I quickly grabbed my camera and painted a thumbnail of the colours and I was glad to have done so since the camera did not record this stunning effect.
These last two days I have worked on this watercolour executed on Paper
Sauders Waterford, rough.

It will be one of my last painting recorded from my studio. For almost 6 years I have enjoyed many incredible colourful skies but in a matter of weeks, the view will be blocked by an extension in front of me.

From Sandgate towards Dungeness.

Dungeness in Kent, in UK, is known all over the world for its huge shingle landscape (the largest in the world), its little black shacks now habited by many artists. It is wild, migrating birds stop in Dungeness etc..

It is beautiful, Beatrice. You should use it in an appeal against the extension,.To be deprived of such a view that you have enjoyed for 6 years is criminal.

  • Thank you Sue, hummm I wish the council could think as you do !
