Wind

Posted over 4 years ago

I think I found you in the wind
A memory that came spinning back
We were friends first
At a time when friendship
Was the hardest

You brought me laughter
And made me sassy
Teasing you with things
I never understood myself
At the time

On a cold December wind
You returned to me
Our friendship re-established
Our love a possibility
It was just not our time

Established, and with history
You blew my way again

The Pillaging

Posted over 4 years ago

Groundhogs, Woodchucks, Gophers
is there a difference?

Summers spent on the farm
meant the rounds of my grandfather

The Possibility of Me

Posted over 4 years ago

Is that what they’re drawn to?
The perhaps of what could be?

Trapped in the possibility of me

What may happen is the unknown
Where I may end up…

Damn

the freight truck

“Damn”
I thought
“Where do I get me one of those?”

The Phone Call Ends

The phone call ends –
and what do I hope for?
The goodbye?

The I wish it wouldn’t end?

We talk on these stolen moments
Mine from a husband away
Yours from a wife you are leaving
And what do we think is really going on?

We give advice and listen
Being there for each other
As friends should be
But what are our expectations?

Will I take the forbidden trip?
Will you meet me in the middle?

Stillness

Posted over 4 years ago

As the day moves forward
Yet leaves me behind
I wait again for the stillness
The quiet
The calm

I rush through the hours
As the paper thinness of my soul
Quietly slips out the back door
And rushes to meet the golden pink
Of the dawn

The warmth of the sun fills me up
And the silence
Overtakes me

We meet again at the leaving
Of the day
The beat of the heart sends
Its Morse code forward
Searching for the stilln…
