the haiku marathon (part 4)

13-04-08
insistent mewling
curling up on the desktop
jumping at shadows

14-04-08
the well has run dry
the river has receded
snakes curl up to die

15-04-08
fingernails circle
goosebumps rise on ticklish skin
cold gel draws a gasp

16-04-08
he drowns in a pond
choked with weeds and wild rushes
the ducks find him there

17-04-08
i was gone for hours
it is happening again
blood under my nails

18-04-08
someone calls me up
comes round with a crate of cheer
or was that a dream?

19-04-08
my eyes itch and bleed
pale skin peels dangerously
the light burns clothes chafe

20-04-08
all these reggae tunes
have put a skip in my step
a grass green shuffle

21-04-08
i’m under the pump
so far behind my mind hurts
how will i catch up?

22-04-08
sinusitis stinks
confined to bed i wallow
and swallow vile phlegm

23-04-08
voice of a banshee
the grind of dirty guitars
and some kick-arse bass

24-04-08
bag lady singing
“these boots were made for walking”
strolling rundle mall

25-04-08
beneath this cold hill
we are but bones, while above
the flowers grow still

26-04-08
this sky is a wound
here comes the black rain again
pouring down like tears

27-04-08
burn the endless days
cut down infinity’s vine
throw clocks on the pyre

28-04-08
why won’t you make sense?
blue newspaper grease
marmalade pantsuit

29-04-08
nonsense reigns supreme
mongoose typing pool chaos
sip tyrone’s noodles

30-04-08
no more strangers please
with their kissing eyes of jade
and their cold cold words

01-05-08
the stones confound me
rock assails my numb senses
i keep listening

02-05-08
handover complete
major buttercup sips gin
and reminisces

03-05-08
pretty bus-stop girl
with soft sunlight in her hair
and daggers for eyes

04-05-08
night comes on so fast
what was it the singer said?
just days chasing days

05-05-08
these eyes can’t leave you
you stepped close and said softly
are you just browsing?

06-05-08
the ATM cries
traffic lights weep and whimper
power line smiles droop

07-05-08
how to flirt online
in seven easy lessons

08-05-08
ooh look shiny things
so easily distracted
where was i again?

09-05-08
too many to count
flies divebomb the salad bowl
angry hostess swears

10-05-08
i will squeeze your juice
for breakfast each morning dear
whose wet dream is that?

11-05-08
can you catch a storm?
butterfly wings beats
clouds mass overhead

12-05-08
spin that black shellac
tilt that long neck and swallow
highway 61
