Sylvia Creek in the Wirrawilla Rainforest Reserve, Toolangi State Forest, Victoria, Australia.
A remnant rainforest area in a forest devastated by the 2009 fires and suffering further damage by logging carried out by the Victorian Government’s agents, VicForests. The wood is pulped and sold to Japan at a very low price per tonne, for copy paper.

Many years ago I painted. Then I realised that I did better at photography than painting – and that has been my medium of expression ever since.

Ah, the peaceful beauty of tree ferns in the rainforest! You knew I would love this! (Copy paper? What a travesty! Let them source their pulp locally in Japan!)

  • I did expect a favourable comment from you, Celeste :) The Japanese refuse to log their own native forests.
I met some Japanese tourists one time when I was campaigning outside Parliament House who were furious that their government and their companies were benefiting from our forest destruction.

Simply beautiful, Bette! Such an inviting scene, unfortunately some cannot appreciate the world’s natural beauty!

  • Glad you like it, Lynn. To some, the dollar is the imperative. Look at the rainforests being destroyed all over the world.

    Fabulous peaceful scene

  • It’s a very nice little spot in an area where logging threatens constantly.
