Artist's Description

Stylidium graminifolium
Family: Stylidiaceae.

Upright perennial herb to 60cm.( Perhaps I should have posted a picture which shows the leaves, which are lanceolate and clustered around the base of the plant, but this photo is more pleasing, aesthetically!)Flowers are pink to magenta with a white, tubular centrewith two stamens united into a long bent column that springs across when touched near the base to dust the insect with pollen.
Found in woodlands of thecoast and tablelands in Queensland, NSW and Victoria,
Australia.
These trigger plans were photographed on Mt St Gwinear in Baw Baw NP, Victoria.
