In the Great Otway National Park,Victoria,Australia. The rain did not once cease on the walk into the falls, during the shooting, or on the way back. I found that Parks Victoria had provided a steel mesh floored lookout ,which made proper use of a tripod impossible. I had to lean it against the railing ,extract my camera from my pack under my rain poncho, change the lens (silly me) – all the time trying desperately to shield the camera from the rain with an umbrella. Now I keep three pieces of strong cardboard in my camera pack and they have been very useful, since I have found that bridges and lookouts damaged by the fires have all been replaced with steel mesh.

Many years ago I painted. Then I realised that I did better at photography than painting – and that has been my medium of expression ever since.

Have to agree Bette, those stupid floors, like the ones at Triplet Falls are a pain with a tripod.

Getting away from that, you have captured the falls beautifully.

  • I didn’t reply promptly! Sorry John, and thanks for your comment.

Very nice and it makes me feel a little cooler as it is 42 degrees right here as I write a bit to warm for me, so I would just love to be near those falls, thank you…….Ron

  • In S.A.? It’s pretty hot here (Melbourne) too, but not as hot as 42! I was pretty cool the day I photographed the falls because it did not stop raining! Thanks,Ron.
