A portrait format image of a section of the falls in the Yarra ranges National Park, Victoria,Australia.

Many years ago I painted. Then I realised that I did better at photography than painting – and that has been my medium of expression ever since.

Wow. Wild waters. Must have been raining a bit. Fantastic shot Bette.
Yes, this was taken after a good fall. It really sets the water roaring! Glad you like it, John.
Beautiful rushing waters, even a feeling of danger from this low angl.!
One would be very bruised and battered indeed after a fall into this water! Years ago I took a photo for Parks Victoria from just below this point. I had to hug a huge rock in the stream while balancing my short tripod on top of the rock. Getting back to the bank afterwards I slipped into the water but was not injured – just soaked from the knees down. Could not perform such a trick these days! Ah me.
Nice image Bette. Good memories for me as I took one of my favourite waterfall photos of this particular falls, it’s nice to see that there is still plenty of vegetation around, although it looks like there are some burnt bits at the top of the image :(
Hi Cameron – looks are deceiving! The forest away from the immediate stream area was decimated – very depressing to walk through. Here and there, the flames leapt over the falls leaving a lot of the vegetation intact or just singed, so that it recovered in the time between the fires and the taking of the shot.
the vertical format is perfect for the subject and the spray gives it a nice atmosphere — a very appealing shot Bette
Thanks for your considered comment, Harry. I’m glad that it pleases!

I keep missing The Water Meistresses best pics! This is wonderful, Bette, congrats on the well deserved features. Wonderful water-flow and I love that projecting rock! A picture to spend time with……Dave ;-)
Thanks very much, Dave. This is not my favourite Keppel’s Falls pic – there’s a better , landscape format, one in my folio. :)
