Snail Mail Project (Page 3)

Page three, the final page of my Snail Mail Project contribution, is all about where I live! I figured…this whole project is about a journey so might as well document where this book as been by devoting an entire page to my lovely home! I have represented Southern California as a whole and then have broken that down into the major sub-areas that make up my hometown: West Covina is a city located in the San Gabriel Valley area of Los Angeles County.

Located about 20 mins. outside of the city of Los Angeles, West Covina is a suburb that is only minutes away from beach, desert, mountain, city, and rural areas all while being self-contained in a mini-mall infested and culturally diverse locale. We’re all about sun glasses, suburbs, and sun tans (or burns, depending on who you ask). Sure, we drive crazy and tear down historic landmarks to build Wal-Marts, but where else can you buy underwear at 3 a.m., visit the Magic Kingdom, try a different type of food every night of the week, and see a Starbucks at every sinlge intersection? We build sand castles in the sky and tear them down just as quickly. We’re expensive, larger than life, and one large melting pot of ideas, cultures, and environments. Visit us and you will see true capitalists at work. And, those of us bohemians who manage to survive will be the first to say that we love this town but will never admit to it because that would be too cliche!

This page was created via mixed media collage utilizing photographs, stickers, pen, paper, and ultra cool scrapbook details. I hope you enjoy!

I’m sorry I missed this before going out this afternoon. It’s fantastic. I love the “Far Far Away” Shrek postmark!!! LOL.

Thanks, Anne! BTW, I collected a few of these Shrek postmarks when the last movie came out… they also had a Christmas version! I thought they were really cute and was hoping I could find a project to use them in… and this one seemed perfect!

You got it kiddo. I like page 2 the best, cause it brings out more of you, life, distractions and things. 3 is good but looks like you tried too hard, 1 was very good but could have been soften in upper right. 2..the BEST!

I like the collage project. I want to do collage, but never really got into it. I like the idea of telling yourself, and where you live and distribute are a post card. I am learning Spanish, so “ciudad” pop into my eyes right away!
