After always noting that I’m not a morning person, I finally managed to get up to try the first sunrise shot I’ve ever done. Burgess Beach, Forster, NSW, Australia. Certainly a learning curve! Got there just in time, not a lot of colour around, suddently sun was up and not much chance for setting the scene as well as perhaps could have. Still, one down, a few more to come later, when I can drag myself out of bed again! lol. Nikon D7k, f20, 30sec, ISO 100, 105mm.

An amateur, but a long love of photography. A recent move to digital has seen the love ‘blossom’, and a greater enjoyment in the field. I will try most forms of photography, and gain both knowledge and fun out of the experimentation. Using a Nikon D300 and D7000, with a range of lenses, and filters. I hope you enjoy the views as much as I’ve enjoyed taking them.

Something magical about sunrise, light, usually quiet moment. Just a great time for photography. My advice is to check out the spot before hand and get there about 15-20 before first light. First light(before the sun peeks up) is the best IMO. Check out a program called “The Photographer’s Ephemeris”, it shows you where the sun/moon will come up/down, can help!
    Great work Baz!

  • Thanks mate. I got there a bit before hand, but the light wasn’t terrific – cloud was not the best although that did get better with the sun rise – before there was only the heavy bank and it didn’t colour much at all. Will definitely look at that as an option mate. Was happy with this one and a couple of others, but also not helped by the fact that it only just peeked around the point as well – later in the year would be better I think.
