Hampden Bridge Going Under by

Murrumbidgee Floods, 5/12/10. Wagga Wagga, NSW, Australia. This end of the bridge went under the water, which then cut off the suburb of North Wagga. In the midground you can see the top of the levee protecting Wagga Wagga City, and the height of the river as it peaked just below the top of the levee.

Nikon D7000.

An amateur, but a long love of photography. A recent move to digital has seen the love ‘blossom’, and a greater enjoyment in the field. I will try most forms of photography, and gain both knowledge and fun out of the experimentation. Using a Nikon D300 and D7000, with a range of lenses, and filters. I hope you enjoy the views as much as I’ve enjoyed taking them.

Oh my. That’s a lot of water. I wish I had been able to see this. Wasn’t game enough to travel to have a peek.

  • Thanks Gail. Yes, it sure was. Probably a very wise decision – lol! Getting through would’ve been okay from Coota, but they were worried it would go over the levee then it would’ve cut the main road.

Holy s**t!! I never saw it this bad in all my years in Wagga.

  • Sums up the views of many Sue – lol! Yes, it was one of the worst in the 20years I’ve been here – I think there was one other which was as high, or perhaps even a little higher – but after over 10 years drought, this year has been so bloody wet!

WoW! That’s sure amazing; hope it’s settling by now.
Merry Christmas and an artistically successful 2011!

  • Thanks Sonia – yes, the river is now within its banks, but still high. Now they are worried about more rain forecast New Year though!
And best Christmas wishes to you as well, and hope your year is successful too.

Amazing shots Mate. An incredible amount of water.

  • sure was mate! in 2o years here never seen it that high, and we had about 4 of them – each higher than the last. fortunately none since then, but with the dams full could be in for another bad time later.
