Wagga Wagga, NSW, Australia. Floods since 5/12/10 have left still a week later many roads cut and roads closed. This, the main road to the now isolated and evacuated North Wagga, normally passes through fields, now it’s a very large lake. The Murrumbidgee river is some distance past the far tree line – hence this represents a very much wider spread of the river.

Nikon D300, 10-20 Sigma. 10mm, 1.6s, F22, ISO 450.

An amateur, but a long love of photography. A recent move to digital has seen the love ‘blossom’, and a greater enjoyment in the field. I will try most forms of photography, and gain both knowledge and fun out of the experimentation. Using a Nikon D300 and D7000, with a range of lenses, and filters. I hope you enjoy the views as much as I’ve enjoyed taking them.

wow. thanks for showing us some the damage in the area, we’ve had a lot of rain in melbourne too

  • Thanks mate! Yes, you got it recently as well – this is the third big flood here this year – and probably a fourth on its way after last nights storm. It’s just incredible the change from this time last year in both areas.

Wow! that’s incredible! Love the sky and reflections you’ve captured!:-)

  • Thanks Lori – was hoping for a really good sunset to set it off, but it never arrived, so waited until there was a bit of colour, but was very late then, to get this – was happy with the outcome anyway.

Excellent shot showing the extent of the damage. I have a friend in Wagga who’s sending me shots and some show Fitzmaurice street and shops well under water – it is going to take a while to mop up after this.

  • Thanks Rosalie. Yes, that was Wed night with the downpour we had then. I didn’t go down to look in all the rain, but have seen great photos of it.

Shame about the floods but it’s a great photo!

  • Thanks Esther. Yes, the damage to the place and farms have been terrible.

I remember the floods in 1974. Couldn’t get past the Red Steer. Hopefully the levee will do it’s job now.

  • Before my time down here, but North Wagga and Gumly cut off – but at least levee held so damage restricted to the flash flooding and the river flooding farms, so it could’ve been worse as far as the town was concerned.
