5 shot pano of the devastation wrought by October 16th fires Lake Macquarie Central Coast, NSW. Australia. Without the fantastic work by Firies the damage would have been even worse in what was one of the most intense fire periods for the region.

An amateur, but a long love of photography. A recent move to digital has seen the love ‘blossom’, and a greater enjoyment in the field. I will try most forms of photography, and gain both knowledge and fun out of the experimentation. Using a Nikon D300 and D7000, with a range of lenses, and filters. I hope you enjoy the views as much as I’ve enjoyed taking them.

Outstanding mate. It really brings home the devastation. We were following it on the BBC it looked horrific.

  • Thanks mate. Yes, it’s so hard to capture the huge extent of it when it covered a huge area – this is just up behind us – about 2kms away – so it was a terrible time for all. But amazingly in this area only a few houses were lost, and unfortunately one life as well, which is testament to the fantastic efforts of the Fire services – the wind was extreme and the speed of the fires was so fast that there seemed little hope in some areas.

Nice record shot … heat, extreme wind and incompetence of National Parks & Wildlife.
    Cheers,
    Phil W.

  • Sure was a bad combination of factors
