Silver Orb Weaver Spider photographed at Batemans Bay, New South Wales, Australia.
There are many in my garden, usually found hanging upside down underneath their webs
which are often strung between low bushes. Seen in sunlight, the back is shining silver.

I have always enjoyed photography and love the scope that a digital camera allows. I am retired, approaching threescore years and ten. The world around me provides endless photographic opportunities, from the abundance of nature in my own backyard to historic destinations around the world.

Incredible capture, Trish!!! Rather you than me, though.

  • Thanks very much Phil ! She’s a tricky one and had led me on a bit of a chase, running away as soon as she sensed potential danger.

Gosh YTrish you really have captured this chap, so well, I’m not a fan of spiders, but appreciate other peoples pics of them well taken.

  • Malcolm, I thank you very much for your lovely words ! I have learned much about the many varieties (I never knew existed) that live in my garden thanks to digital photography :)

  • Lance, thanks so much for your beautiful comments and favourite ! Seen in sunlight, the back is like a flash of real silver, but they spend most of their time hanging upside down under their web. Do you have these where you live?

Brilliant close Trish, even though i hate spiders..

    Cheers Jude xx

  • Jude, I have learned so much about spiders since the advent of digital photography, most are harmless and will run away rather than towards you. Thanks so much for your comments !

Oh wow, I enlarged this, fabulous detailed work of this spider , she is doing great acrobat work, so fascinating !

  • Thank you so much Elfriede for your fabulous comments and favourite of this image ! Surprisingly her silk line is totally invisible, she is not quite the size she appears in the framed image.
