BUTTERFLIES, MOTHS and CATERPILLARS

Photographed in the grounds of the Mateus Palace Vila Real, Portugal.
I think this lovely creature is a Bee Hawkmoth, but I would really appreciate confirmation of it’s identity.
I am always inspired by the beauty of nature. This was my first (and only) sighting of the lovely moth.

I always called them hummingbird moths and they are indeed magical! Lovely shot!

  • Nelson, thanks very much for viewing and commenting so nicely ! From my research I think the same (or similar) moth is known as Bee Hawkmoth in Europe and Australia and Hummingbird Moth in U.S.A. The wing action is certainly very similar to the Hummingbird.
