TRAVELS IN EUROPE

Photographed from Castello Brown, high above Portofino, a small Italian fishing village and tourist resort located in the province of Genoa on the Italian Riviera. The town is crowded round its small harbour and is closely associated with Paraggi Beach, which is a few minutes up the coast by road, or considerably more on foot up and down the hilly terrain.

The Portofino Promontory forms the northernmost coastal Protected Area in the Western Mediterranean Sea. The Park was established in 1935 and houses one of the largest floristic concentrations in the Mediterranean area, a considerable variety of birds and invertebrates, important architectural elements, and the best-known scenery in the world. The seabed preserves the whole range of interacting underwater life of the upper Tyrrhenian Sea.

Portofino is nestled in a tiny harbour, where even the small cruise ships have to anchor out. The view from Castello Brown was wonderful in all directions.

Awesome pano, Trish. Question time: Did you use a tripod, and were any of the boats moving when you took the shots?

  • Thanks heaps Gary !
No tripod, just my trusty “beanbag” on the wall and I don’t believe any of the boats were moving. I even missed our tender on one of it’s many trips to of from our ship anchored off to the right of the shot.
