I love the potential of bicycles – the transportation, the environmental goodness, the exercise, the clean air. Bicycles can teach children so much about mechanics, perseverence and problem-solving. I took this shot while riding along on my bike, following the man and his grandson for some time, taking several shots before the boy turned around and gave me this sweet and curious look. It’s tough to ride and shoot at the same time, many misfires, but this turned out exactly as I wanted! I hoped to have captured the spirit of the protective nurturing of the grandfather and his precious garndson.
