No Escape

When you walk down the street
And people pass you by
As we all hear the beat
of the pairs of feet
I just wanna cry

The way the world’s gone, it totally sucks
People don’t care if you’re down on your luck,
The waiter might as well spit in your cup,
And no-one would stop if you fell on the road.
What? Have we all turned on our “ar-ehole mode”?

The world is stuffed, it’s really screwed
People saying sorry for sh-t they didn’t do
Some dudes probably want our leaders dead too
Just because they think their views aren’t skewed
When they’re the crazy ones who should be shot dead
Or put into a 6 by 8
With a 64 year old, put in there for rape
Sleeping on a mattress on an uncomfortable bed

What do they care?
Their life is over anyway
You could lose all your hair
Or tell you’re parents that you’re gay
In a way we’re all trapped,
prisoners of our lives.
No matter what we do
We couldn’t escape if we tried

Just my little bit of commentary on the way some people probably see the world (we’re reading Catcher in the Rye for English, and I guess that it’s sort of the way Holden would see today’s world, I guess)

When I showed it to my parents, the first thing my dad asked me was “Are you depressed?” Hmm….

Not too sure about the rules on swearing so I censored the two words that could cause a kerfuffle…

Great writing. You’ve touched on some serious themes here in a no nonsense way.

  • Thanks a lot Jo. That’s what I was kind of aiming to do =)
