Here on RB there are stunning coastal images with perfect long exposures and processing,,, well,, this isn’t really one of them but what it is, is my first ever long exposure.
This morning my friend and I decided to shoot a sunrise on the Western Port Bay (Balnarring) so I packed my case & tripod and off we went at 5am. As soon as we got there, my cheap tripod broke in half so there goes my long exposures! But I ended up getting creative with positions..hmmmm..
Then, we waited.. and waited.. and no Sunrise! Just lots and lots of gray clouds and drizzle :o( But that aside I still tried to make the best of it and got this image with a 30second (200 ISO) exposure so please be kind! I promise I’ll do better next time…. After I invest in a good tripod!
No really,,, I’m my own worst critic and hope to do way better next time or I don’t think I’ll be doing landscapes again!!! Thank you for your feedback :o)
Your first one is never easy. Never mind, don’t give up.
I’m just about to leave for Sorrento to do some long exposures down there.
Thanks Jim!! I hope you get better conditions than we did this morning!!!

Great first attempt Basia, don’t worry it doesn’t get much harder than your tripod breaking on you! Long exposures open up a whole new world to explore, look forward to seeing some more from you =)
Thank you so much Simone!!! Your feedback is so very much welcomed! I’ll just have to wait a while before I attempt that again so I can save up for a tripod!!
so this is handheld ?! awesome long exposure result ! so many adversities that morning Basia. I guess we all have one of those days… but you made the most of it , great work ! btw, if you’re still lokking for a tripod, mine is quite interesting (price vs quality) and strong enough ^^ Bmail me if you want the specific info
Thank you Aimelle! No it wasn’t hand held… my hands are too shaky! I had it on the old tripod cover on the sand, hence the low POV! Thanks for letting me know about your tripod, I’ll have a think about it first and decide what I want to do first,, and thank you for your feedback!

Great work, Basia !!! Especially considering the odds that you were up against !! And I know the feeling very well, about ALL the above adversities !!
Thank you so much Phil! I did have high expectations but that’s okay,, I think it was a great learning experience and I still had fun with my friend!
