My quick question is….. I have always taken photos using my D80 by looking through the view finder but now have sold the camera to my dad. He finds this more difficult and wanted to know if there is a way to set the camera to see the image on the LCD screen when taking the photo? Is this possible and if so, how is it set?? Thank you so very much in advance… Basia

Not on D80 I agree with Michael…U can do that just with point and shoot cameras…to my knowledge…

Thanks… That’s what I thought too but my dad was insistent that it could be done… Thanks again!

Some of the newer DSLR cameras are coming out with “live view” but with earlier versions the eye piece is the only way to see the composition.

If he wears glasses, you can get eye piece correctors to fit on the viewfinder then he can use the camera without his glasses.

Some bridge cameras you can use the viewfinder and the LCD screen. From the Nikon D70’s and up you can only use the viewfinders. The LCD screen is only for review.

I have this option on my camera ,canon40D , Its called “Live view”, But its not very efficient, i ‘ve never used it myself.

Definately not an option on the D80 Basia…......................My new D300 has a liveview setting I think that and the D3’s are the first Nikons with that option and to be honest even though I may use it at times for landscape work with the camera on a tripod to avoid so much bending its otherwise fairly useless and not that great to use.

D300 and newer/more expensive models now have it, not just point & shoot as said above. Not on the D80 though I’m afraid. would a right angle finder help, something like this ?

the new expensive models you can .was a mistke to leave it off, you cant get macro to something small and low down without it
