Capturing my oldest boy playing chess against my dad, his grandad during the week. This is also a follow on from ‘chess master’. Do you think he is stressed or just thinking.. Maybe a bit of both.

The emotion that your son conveys is so strong! I like that
by seeing just the top of your Dad’s head, I get a sense of standing
right over him and looking down at the board. I was playing chess just
earlier tonight. :) The subtle vignette (and slight hint of soft focus) works
well here too. It’s a great photo all around. Timeless..

  • Basia McAuley replied

Thank you Birgitta, yes, his emotions were very strong at that point but he still loves to play against his grandad.

Bravo Basia you have captured the moment gorgeously!
and yes your son is discovering it’s not always as fun as it is at Hogwarts :o)
I hope your dad didn’t “let” him win :o)
    Bravo :o)

  • Basia McAuley replied

Thanks Adgray, no, my dad wouldn’t let him win, he’s too competitive! But he is an excellent teacher (being a professor his whole adult life!) He’s very patient and my boy always looks forward to their chess matches.. Even through he always looses!

A flash from the PAST!!! My Father is also Polish and we too played chess as children with him. This picture remindes me of when I racked my own brain out how I could beat father, just once. Impossible!! My Dad would checkmate everyone in about three moves.
