i am a musician and photographer from the san francisco bay area region of california. i am just about to release a new cd-kenny schick/basement 3 “under”,which was recorded mostly in melbourne, australia during an amazing life adventure instigated by myspace.com. the short story: new year’s day, 2006, i was on myspace, the idea of going to australia to play music on my mind…it was time to shake my life up a bit. i stumbled across australian sabine heusler, an avid music fan in melbourne with similar tastes as i. we began extensive communication by email, then phone, and by august 1st, 2006, i had quit my part time job of 14 years(in the photo industry), and all my bands. i was in australia with sabine for nearly 8 months, recorded my cd, her cd, and took loads of photos. coming ‘home’ to california was a hugely emotional upheaval, on top of an already huge shock to my senses. it took what energy i had left to finish up the cd and try to restructure my thoughts about all that had transpired and all that was/is to come. i came home determined to finally focus on my lifelong dream—to make a living doing musical things. sabine and i still talk every day, and it is hard being back on opposite sides of the world. the cd, which is an acoustic thing recorded mostly in our apartment in st. kilda, is all about australia, our odd and rare romance/relationship, my thoughts and transformation….it is something that many will relate to….it is for ‘travelers’, and those who still love the art of music. i call the music ‘avant-garde’ folk. you can vistit me at http://www.basement3.com or http://www.myspace.com/basment3music or http://www.sonicbids.com/basement3
