Title: Trumpet Notes

I was a little overdue to continue my Crazy Notes series and this particular brass instrument has been requested many times. So here it is and I dedicate this piece to Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong, and all the other masters who have come and gone and to those out there who carry on the legacy of this bright-and-moody-music-tool.

The trumpet has been wielded by so many greats over the years that I was really struggling to pick a song/video to pair with this piece. I settled on 2 of my very favorite trumpet tunes of all time.

The first is “Cantaloupe Island”, written by Herbie Hancock and originally featuring Freddie Hubbard on trumpet/coronet.

My second choice was from Miles Davis’ classic Kind of Blue album, entitled “All Blues” and this particular live take features another jazz great, John Coltrane on tenor sax. Enjoy…
