In those days of myth & magic
True life was short & hard & tragic
The only chance at life so long
Was in a tale or epic song
The peace & joy that love would bring
Was such a quick & fragile thing
To have a babe was no great thrill
The bairn could die, gestation kill
All those tales of death & glory
Over wrote a bloody story
An existence short & drab & brutal
Outlooks were dim, hopes were futile
Kaarli and her mercenary band had been employed by the king of Ozmi to defend his lands from the blood lust of the Akimmi. Kaarli chose a narrow spit to fight, this would negate the superior numbers of the Akimmi. She and her men were out numbered at least eight to one. But the savagery with which she and her men fought placed fear in the hearts of the Akimmi warriors. It would be a long and bloody battle….................
