Friesians
Many people debate the idea of using friesians in dressage. This may have been justified in the past when friesians were baroque in style with short bodies and possessed only extravagant movement up the front for carriage driving. However with careful breeding and by selecting certain stallions, a more modern dressage style friesian has been developed which can excel in the dressage arena.
Friesians have big hearts and generally want to please their rider. They are smart, quick to learn and forgive mistakes easily.

Beautiful perspective and that gorgeous arched neck and set head could have come straight out of an ancient Greek painting—classic and classy!

Gorgeous photo .. amazing horse , really cool perspective
StuartR
Great shot. I can never understand how its the rider that gets the praise and not the horse (then again, not ever having ridden a horse, apart from a 4 legged chesterfield lounge when taking my 7 year old daughetr to a riding school, I probably shouldnt place an opinion).

Thanks Stuart, yes its very hard to look good and perform well if the horse is not co-operating, we would like pretty silly skipping around the dressage arena without one and showjumping would be very difficult indeed.

I dont know, it worked for Monty Python. The thing about showhorses (actually all thoroughbreds and performing horses) is the amazing restrained power in their physique (well captured in the image).

Beautiful POV. You show the strength of the horse juxtaposed with the lightness of the rider. You have captured his power, concentration and flexibility beautifully. Classical, graceful. Xenophon would surely approve.
Dan Danieluc
love it!!!
GailD
Magnificent horse. I haven’t had anything to do with the friesians. From what I have read, they have a little more between the eyes than the thoroughbred. Nothing against the thoroughbreds.
Great shot.
Alain Safa

A beautiful capture – I have watched the development of this “modern” fresian over the years & most admit to being very taken by them – they have huge presence & magnificent movement, a good horse/rider team is a true joy to watch! (this too from a western rider!)
Strolch
These Friesians are simply soo beautiful,.. my favorites… and you captured this horse so beautifully!
