    Very nice!

  • Thank you, Sheryl!! I lived for three years in Gurnee, IL, north of Chicago, but I can’t say I’ve heard of Greenup. Hope you’ll have a chance to go through some of my other artworks – this one was just sort of a first baby step with this particular tutorial. They are hopefully getting better :o)))

  • Thanks so much, hun!!! Proud to be part of a beautiful gallery of works, and have truly enjoyed this tutorial as much as any of the previous ones. btw, feel free to let somebody else’s work be the group avatar…the olives in mine are looking a bit stale as it has been much longer than the two weeks you suggested :o)))

Never heard of Gurnee either. Greenup is barely on the map its so small.! I’ve never been up near Chicago.

  • Gurnee was only known up in Chicagoland because of its Gurnee Mills Mall. So I just looked up Greenup, and I see that actor James Woods grew up there; I do like some of his movies. I also see you are “The Village of Porches” – I like the sound of that. The great thing about small towns and front porches is that people still talk to each other. That has sadly died in much of our country, especially on the East Coast where so many people “pretend to live”. I just spent the weekend in the small town where my girlfriend grew up, and it was wonderful. Everybody is pretty much part of one big family, and we all had a great 4th of July picnic together and go swimming in the river every afternoon…and sit on our porches and wave to everybody who drives or walks by…great stuff. Except we had no internet, or air conditioning, but that made sure you went back to the river to cool off! :o)))

James Woods huh? Never knew that. I grew up just a few miles north in Charleston. But its a college town and we like the small town feel. No stop lights or traffic or sirens or vandalism or theft…… Sounds like you had a great time! Good to get away from it all every once in a while. :)
