Many sci-fi books, movies, and TV shows have depicted planetary defense systems to deflect or destroy asteroids before catastrophic collisions with our world. More recently, scientists have been working on real-world approaches that may someday be employed for this purpose.

Inspired by the final scene from the movie The Fifth Element, shown here…

The five colored lights in this particular pattern are obvious to fans of this movie. Much more subtle is the comparison of the straight and wavy parallel lines from Apo splits cylinder in this image with similar patterns in the stones represent the four elements in the movie, and the orange-red colors relating to the hair and attire of the fifth element, Leeloo, amazingly portrayed by Milla Jovovich.

If there are any sci-fi fans who have not seen this movie, do yourself a favor and watch it as soon as you can. For any of you who haven’t really been interested in sci-fi, I think this really is a good flick to try, since it also has many other “elements”, action, romance, historical and religious context, opera, comedy, suspense, spectacular photography and sound…

From ATF tut 10 with added Fx of loonie and ngon (4 sides), then sharpened with added supernovae in GIMP and rendered in Ultra Fractal 5.04. Best if viewed larger.

The series title was somewhat inspired by the movie theme (see youtube below) which was in turn a spoof of the Big Band era song Pennsylvania 6-5000.

YeeHaa!!! This is most excellent, David! Vibrant and bursting from the screen! Well done, my friend. And I loved the Fifth Element!! One of Bruce’s finer movies, IMHO.

  • Thank you Peggi, and I totally agree about Bruce’s performance and the movie in general. Have a great weekend, D
