Thanks to the Hubble space telescope, the past decade has brought us amazing new images of other distant galaxies in our 13 billion year old universe. Due to the gravitational forces of black holes at the center of many galaxies, spiral arrangements of stars somewhat like this abstract fractal image are relatively common.
Created in Apophysis 7x v14 following this tutorial in the Apophysis Tutorial Fun group. Rendered as a .png file, then blended with duplicate layers and a black background in GIMP v2.6, then saved in .jpg format, finally scaled up in UF. Fifth in a series of images generated with the instructions in this tutorial called Escher Stained Glass by dA’s SaTaNiA (Damien), using Spherical in the final transform, with an escher_beta value of 0.25 in Tx2, and camera settings of perspective=0.2 and pitch=40. Best if viewed larger.
