Golden Spirals with Apo Ngon (UF0143) by

Featured 2/23/11 in Inspired Art

Primary abstract fractal created in UF 5.04 based on equation Carr1723S, with an insert of an ngon Apophysis 7x fractal (see the tutorial in the new Apophysis Tutorial Fun Group) accomplished with GIMP v2.6, with final image scaling in UF and some minor brightness adjustment in MS Picture Manager. The clash of pastels and delicate lines in the Apo image with the brassy, metallic textures of the UF fractal is suggestive of the stark contrast of traditional Asian art works with the staggering rates of city architecture construction in Japan and now China…how does the lotus blossom overcome the din of the jackhammer? Will the golden dragon of success spiral out of control??

An interesting, very well designed fractal artwork David

  • Thank you very much, Thea!! Now that I can combine fractals, it is fun to look for “holes” in one that can be filled with another :-)

    Nice!! . . .

  • Thanks, Hugh! Are they throwing together buildings like this in Thailand these days?

    Wow! This is beautiful work.

  • Thanks very much, Bunny! This is a zoom in of an even prettier UF fractal I made this weekend – hoping to post that one as well soon, but haven’t quite figured out what to call it or what it “means” – sometimes a challenge with abstracts, eh? Best, David

    This is awesome David!

  • Thanks! Just got a somewhat unexpected feature in Inspired Art (though they have been doing about 20 sets of features a week for the last two weeks). The video is amazing, too, considering it has been taking 4 YEARS to build our new Dental Sciences building, and it is only 5 stories…
