The background is a simple Julia transform of a basic UF formula called Green Velvet, and the inset (“the bullet”) is part of a fractal image based on Maurer Rose created in Fractal Science Kit. The “waves” sort of remind me of the high speed photographic images of bullets fired into gels or water (see, for example, 6:00 into the first video below).
