Song bemoaning modern conservatism and harking back to a more exciting time when the youth were revolutionising the world.

A chance to become great,
To become someone;
Chance to be what we’ll be,
Chance to live out our dreams,
Chance to do something.
We go through school, through college,
Through university,
Through institutions;
We’ll go and get a job,
We’ll work in the city,
Where all the money is.
We’ll work from 9 to 5
Every day, every week, every year,
We’ll work like clockwork;
This city works for us
With its trains and its buses,
It works like clockwork.
The city it breathes,
Year on year, day by day,
It creates money.
This city just lives on and on and on and on and on and on…..
I’ll meet a pretty girl
I think I like her,
It blossoms into love;
There’ll be a happy day
When we’ll get married,
Everyone’s so happy;
We’ll buy a house,
We’ll make some children,
2.4 children;
We’ll send them out to school,
To college, to university,
Through institutions;
They’ll go and get their jobs,
They’ll move into the cities,
As we did before them;
They’ll make friends,
They’ll get married,
Everyone’s so happy;
We’ll retire,
Get a house on the seaside,
Or maybe in the countryside;
There’ll be some funerals
Of friends from the past,
We’ll share our memories;
This life just moves on,
Our children’s children’s children they will come,
They’ll live the lives of those before them,
This life just goes on and on and on and on and on and on…..
What would you do differently?
Make something of yourself?
What would you do to make life better?
Stand out by yourself?
These mechanic lives.
These mechanic lives.
These mechanic lives, they just go on and on and on and on and on.
These mechanic lives.

I’ll least I’ll try to do something different….I would certainly be lifeless and empty if I were to live a mechanic life. I really like the message here Barnsy.

thank you erika. we should all try to do something different definitely. reminds me of the american beauty quote: “there’s nothing worse than being normal”.

So few people are strong enough to question the majority. These days the majority are believing in seperation and a need to compete and survive. Further we are told it is over analysing to think deeply. Your post hopefully will inspire some to go deeper.
