Faith

I don’t know; should I though,
I’ve never had such faith.
I’ve always wanted to believe
But I don’t know what and why and how.

I have a friend, a Christian friend
Who loves, adores Jesus Christ.
But why should I without my
Faith have faith in Christ.

I have a friend, a Jewish friend
Of the chosen race.
‘You can be a son of Abraham’ he says
But I see not a reason, trace.

I have a friend, a Muslim friend
Who follows Muhammad’s law.
Allah’s name means many things
But faith in him is not more law.

I have a friend, a Hindu friend
Of many Gods it seems.
Am I wrong, Am I right
But I don’t see his God in my dreams.

I have a friend, an atheist
Whose belief is as strong as the rest.
‘There’s no God!’ He doth insist
But not even his faith can be the best.

Yahweh, Allah, Brahman, Trinity, Spirit,
Father or King.
They’ll all just names which show a
Faith, but don’t tell me a thing.

I’d always wished I could have a faith
I studied in hope of doing so.
Neither teleological, cosmological, ontological or
Anything logical could help me decide
For Faith is not that Logical;
Intellectual argument is all just
Words and cannot do
Justice to our spiritual
Existence, whether true or not.

The Bible, the Qur’an
God and Allah
They’re all just words of faith.

Faith that thing I dreamed of and
Endlessly contemplate.
I wait and wait for it to
Come, but I’m just another one
That is still lost.

Reason is reason
That is all.
Logic is logic
Words are words.
Why we are we cannot
Know, but we believe and with
Faith, we say we know.

Your God is yours
Mine will be mine,
Whether I believe in Him or not.
If I have faith he is
My shrine, but until
Then, He neither is or is
Not.

Very much agree. Faith to me is only real when we have stability inside. Too many people look to religions and even kids and partners as saviours. I do not believe anything is gospel unless you feel it in your heart and then combine the feeling with rational understanding.

I prefer to believe in life and self and use each experience as information to give me more proof I why I should believe.

i think true faith cannot be found in external forces or beliefs…. but true faith is an internal process…...only by going deep into our own hearts and souls will we find the univeral truth…. mayhaps just recognizing that fact is the faith we all need to continue our inward journey.

before any religion or faith came along…man was man and woman was woman…the sun until today is the savior…no sun no life…faith can only follow…

    mmm…sorry I was interrupted earlier….

...what really I’m trying to get to is that..in/since ancient times…all faiths…religions…originated/originate from the sun, planets…and their effect on life…on us…

Faith is the biggest healer…also the biggest killer…no faith professes that we kill each other… and still more people have died and continue to die…because of their faiths…religions…

When will this madness of killing people in the name of the faith/religion end?...

Is it not better…that we do not have any religion…if the price of having a faith is death of a brother, a sister, a mother, a son…..

    So who needs a faith?...

I agree with aspects of this Kumar – as Richard Dawkins said,
“Without faith you’d have good people doing good things and bad people doing bad things.
It takes faith/religion to make good people do bad things.”

However, I do sympathise with people who have faith in something beyond because often life’s face value isn’t fully satisfying.
The main problem is ‘blind faith’ which is the faith of people who really haven’t considered what they’re believing in and often people have this blind faith becaus they’re either raised by their parents to do so or they are pressured into it because its the only solution their society gives them.

Blind faith is the biggest flaw in human society and organised religion and blind faith seem to go hand in hand.

Only when people consider their faith and realise that other faiths and ideas have exactly the same weight as theirs can we truly progress as a species.

    I agree with this… wholeheartedly….indeed!

If you can say, “I believe in myself.”, you have faith.

well im a great supporter of descartes’ ‘cognito ergo sum’ so i must indeed have faith in my own existence, though this poem is more to do with faith in the beyond and i personally see my own existence as the one base thing in my life.
thanks for the comment…very thought provoking.
