‘This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper’
The apocalyptic crunch approaches!
Our climate will tease and destroy us
Till we are no more.
The Sun’s blistering beat will create
Our oasis of despair,
While rain may flood our brothers
In a sea of more despair.
We shall beg for God’s mercy.
We were warned once
By those hippies we despised.
How dare they tell us how to
Live our lives – what makes them know best?
Yet they tried, they tried to tell us;
Some were more forceful than others
Yet for all of their compassion
Not even they are saved by God’s compassion.
Where was God’s prophet? Asks the
Pathetic priest – reconsidering his verdict.
God was not to tell us to change our ways,
It was our own duty to save ourselves.
God doesn’t exist in times of turmoil,
Never has, Never will.
It wasn’t God nor the Devil’s fault,
It was ours and our will.
The light that we left on,
The button never pushed,
The paper not recycled and
The journey in that car.
Man was no for changing as man’s
Child paid the price,
While other species are also
Being made to starve, suffer, die.
Isn’t it all a little strange
That not even for life did stubborn man ever change?
Revelation
Inspired by ‘T.S. Eliot’ and ‘Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth’ this poem tries to convey the hoplessness of the human race in the face of Global Warming and the guilt that we should be feeling because of it.

well witten, and full of regretful truth – we all know, yet we can’t pull together – the few at the top – the ones that profit – control the fate of the masses…. Nice one

cheers mate. I completely agree with your interpretation.

Agree. I believe we are masters of our own destiny and our environment. However if only we looked inside and kept our systems emotionally clean. Then perhaps the world would be healthier. Most find it too scary to face their fears and in my opinion the lack of individual transperency pours out externally everywhere.
Turning off lights would help but not so much as turning our consciousness lights on.

excellent , if only we had listened and saw the warning signs…
barnsy in reply to janeymac’s comment, about 1 month ago
if only we did and if only we will!
it already seems inevitable that global warming will have affect us yet noone seems bothered about limiting the damage.
We all so often go on about how we should change our ways for our children adn theirs and yet we never do.
we can still listen jane andwe must change our ways.
cheers for the comment and i apolagise if i seemed like a bit of an ‘eco warrior’ with that comment.

Please don’t appologize for your beliefs , it’s refreshing . cheers Jane
