What would it be like if you had one chance to use a time machine that took you back to an earlier time and age in your life with no turning back? What point would you chose to start again? As well as being influenced by H.G. Wells ‘The Time Machine’ and the emotions/feelings associated with opportunities missed I wanted to portray the fact that life is finite.
The setting of this painting is inspired by the ocean with – the swirly, fluid background and the idea of the shell as a time machine. The embryonic posture signifies rebirth.
