Paper – Saunders Waterford 200lb CP/Not Surface Paints – ‘Winsor & Newton Artists watercolours’ Painting Size – approx. 47cm by 38cm/18.5in by 15in
Although I wanted to suggest the “frosty” elements I didn’t want this to be a cold painting to look at. I added warmth and framed the subject by adding the yellow orange haze to the background and trees. I was most excited about the idea of the dress becoming the frost in the surroundings. To produce the frosty effect I experimented with salt sprinkled into a watercolour wash.

I am sooooooo glad to see this one here! One of my faves of yours. I was browsing your website the other day wondering if you were going to add more of your work here :)
Hi Lynsye, This was one of my faves to paint too ;-)
you did an incredible job making frosty frosty and warm at the same time.. i LOVE the texture element of the frost itself… beautiful painting.
Thank you Shadowdancer. Weird I know but I did enjoy experimenting with the frost effect. I used fine grains of sea salt to disperse the watercolour pigment ;-) Scot
