The Nuthatch is a unique wild bird in several ways, its habit of sticking seeds in the cracks of bark to hold them while it cracks them open, its extra large feet and long claws. However to me the most unique thing about this beautiful bird is that is spends as much time up side down as right side up. I often see them walking down a limb head down like many other birds climb up a limb. This image is a good example of this unique trait of the Nuthatch. Taken near the feeders at our home here in Southeast Missouri.
