The Ruby Throated Hummingbird is an amazing aerodynamically perfect creation of nature. They can fly forwards, backwards, side to side, hover in one spot and even fly upside down. This young female, identified by her clear white throat feathers, has come to a sudden stop in mid air, they use their fanned tail feathers to come to very quick stops. This was taken at our home here in Southeast Missouri.
