This team of three matched mules are hooked with harness to a single bottom breaking plow. The driver rides on a metal seat on the plow and controls the team with a set of reins, one to each of the outside team members. This plow is cutting a furrow six inches deep and a foot wide turning the earth completely over so the grass is under the freshly turned earth. This plow is a heavy duty one so it is hard to pull and needs three very strong mules. As you can see from the action of the team they are working hard and the buggy whip you see is tipped with seagrass rope so it makes a lot of noise but doesn’t hurt the animals. They are breaking ground on a farm near Fredericktown Missouri USA.

That guy on the plow looks fairly young… but everyone is beginning to look young to me.. LOL…. i think this is wonderful… but is this the way they always do it? or are they just doing this to remember what it was like in the OLDEN DAYS? fabulous capture, Byron… the details are amazing!!
Yes he is a young man. They have a variety of equipment that they use and the put on demonstrations at local events. I guess you could say this hobby is one more expensive than a fishing boat and the trips you take to go fishing. Thank you

That’s really amazing sight! What a beautifully matched team of mules too. Well when the oil runs out these blokes will be right on target :-)
Thank you, they really worked well together.
