One of the wild burros in Oatman Arizona takes a close look at my camera ☺ The burros are called wild because they do not belong to any one and go where ever they want. However they have made the town their home territory coming into town each morning and standing in the street in total disregard of any human or vehicle traffic. They walk on the sidewalks and will even try to follow you into a store if you let them. With sunset they go back into the desert to find their favorite sleeping spot
Oatman Arizona is a former mining town in the Black Mountains of Mohave County, Arizona, United States. It began as a tent camp soon after two prospectors struck a $10 million gold find in 1915, though the area had been already settled for a number of years. Oatman’s population grew to more than 3,500 in the course of a year. Gold prospectors still look for gold in the area and there is an active gold mine near town.
