UNBELIEVABLE! ~ WOW AGAIN!! ~ Best viewed large by

Julie and I went up to her Mom’s tonight for dinner (supper to us southern folks) and while there my Mother in law said something about the image of the hummingbird in my hand showing on her facebook page. My Father in law said “I have one flying around in a window out in the garage now!” “I have left the door open all day so it can get out but the last time I looked it was still there.”

  • He and I went out and sure enough there it was flying around inside the window in the garage looking out. The garage door was wide open but I guess it was so concentrated on the view through the window that it didn’t see that avenue of escape. I have encountered this before when a hummer gets inside a building it will go to a window and not notice an open door. I learned that if you place something bright red on the floor in front of the door then gently herd the hummer toward that open door they will often fly to the bright red object then fly away.*

I gently caught this one which turned out the be a male ruby throated hummer and brought it to my house which is within sight of the in laws home. I took two shots of it then released it next to the feeder on my deck. It flew up, around then came back for a drink, and a drink, and a drink. thought it would never stop. Guess the poor fellow was starved. ☺

I joined two Images in Photoshop so you could see both angles of his beautiful little guy.

  • Yes it is incredible sis. He was about exhausted from fighting against the window all day. He was smaller than the female. I took the images in my kitchen and you can see my hand is nearly wide open and he just sat there. Thank you so much, I appreciate your support so much sis.

A stunner of a photo! What about his little family in the other location? But great photo. Gives a true sense of size, how tiny these guys are! Great photo!

  • Thank you, the two houses are within sight of each other so once released he is home.
