This Medavac helicopter came to Julies school, south of St. Louis Missouri, this week as part of their “Safety Stampede” day. This was a service learning project done by the students to show a wide variety of safety issues; seat belt, child safety seats; school bus safety to name just a few. The students also used the program to thank the local police, firemen and paramedics for their service to the community.
The school had several activities to emphasize the importance of accident rescue using a simulated bicycle accident with a pickup truck. The helicopter came as part of the simulated rescue. The fireman ripped the truck apart to show the rescue techniques used in accidents then the paramedics rescued the victims (simulated). The helicopter came and landed to show how they are used in a medical rescue. It was a very windy day with clouds flying by overhead and winds up to 35 MPH.
Julie took this image with her iPhone camera. I used Photoshop to crop and digitally enlarged the image – other wise it is As Is. Pretty good for a cell phone camera!!
