The Vulture or Turkey Buzzard is a flock bird and we often see them floating up high in the sky in flights of up to a dozen birds at once. Because of the way they soar on the air currents they do not usually fly very close to each other.
I have never had the opportunity to take a close up of more than one at a time until I found six of them flying around the same nesting location. I was lucky enough to snap the shot at just the right time with these two.
I was parked on the side of highway 100 north of Alton, Illinois and shooting out of the open sunroof of our car as they circled right above me!!
