The Sycamore has a very distinctive appearance with its white trunk and round seed balls. They stand out at the edge of the forest because of the white trunk of the tree. They are found along creeks and on the edge of forests.
Their wood is soft and tough, the lumber from the tree is used to make things like pallets that materials are stacked on because the wood is very stringy and tough so it does not spit easily even though it is a soft wood. They grow wild and are quite plentiful here in Missouri
