Artist's Description

The sad expression tells you how it feels about being in captivity.

This is a rescued Owl on a perch in an outdoor protective shelter. Its sad expression and hanging head makes you heart hurt!

The World Bird Sanctuary is found in Fenton Missouri within the Lone Elk Park in south St. Louis County about 20 minutes south of St. Louis city. It is the home for many injured Birds of Prey. Some temporarily when they can be treated and released and some permanently when their injuries are to severe for them be allowed them to roam wild again. The care and treatment they give these majestic birds at this facility is outstanding.

I believe this is a Barred Owl, the markings are correct for that species and their colors run from gray to red.
