The Monarch is famous for its southward migration and northward return in summer in the Americas. This is a migration which spans the life of three to four generations of the butterfly. It is found in Europe and in Australia since 1871 where it is called the Wanderer. The male does not have the distinctive black with white spot border around its wings.
